Hayfever

Itchy, watery eyes can make the summer months miserable for many young people.

It is not just grass pollens that trigger a hayfever type response; any pollen can cause sneezing and watery eyes as can other allergans.

There are medications and eyedrops available to reduce the symptoms and make life more comfortable.

Some treatments for mild hayfever can be started when the symptoms cause a problem, others should be commenced before the allergens trigger a response. Your pharmacist is the best person to advise you which type of medication is appropriate.

However antihistamines can make a dry eye problem worse so don’t forget your dry eye lubricating eye drops!
